I get this question more than you’d think — usually from people who’ve tried calling other lawn companies and either got a voicemail that was never returned or an answering service that couldn’t actually tell them anything useful.
So I want to answer it properly. Not with a generic “contact us” page, but with a real explanation of how we operate, when you can reach me, what happens when you call, and what to expect through the whole process from first contact to completed job.
My name is Ryan Lingenfelter. I own and run Cutting Edge Lawn & Landscaping out of Garson, Ontario. We serve Greater Sudbury — Garson, Hanmer, Val Caron, Chelmsford, Lively, Azilda, Capreol, and the city proper. Here’s exactly how we work.
How to Reach Me — The Direct Answer

The fastest and most reliable way to reach me is by phone or text:
📞 Call or text: 705-507-6787
When you call or text that number, you’re reaching me directly. Not a receptionist. Not a call centre. Not someone who has to check with the owner and get back to you. Me — Ryan — the person who will be responsible for your job from quote to completion.
You can also reach us through the quote form on the website at cuttingedgelawn.ca/quote. I check that form regularly and get back to everyone who submits it same day during the season.
Those are the two ways. Phone, text, or the quote form. I don’t have a dedicated email address for quotes — in my experience, email back-and-forth for lawn work takes twice as long as a two-minute phone call and something always gets lost. Call or text is faster for both of us.
When I’m Actually Available

During the active season — May through October — I’m working most days, which means I’m not always available to pick up immediately when you call. I’m out on properties, running equipment, doing actual work. That’s a good thing for my clients. It means I’m not sitting in an office — it means the jobs are getting done.
Here’s what that means practically for reaching me:
If you call and I don’t pick up: Leave a voicemail or send a text. I return calls and texts the same day in almost every case — usually within a few hours. If you reach out in the morning, you’ll typically hear back before end of day. If you reach out in the evening, I’ll get back to you the following morning.
If you text: Text is often faster than a call because I can see a message between jobs even when I can’t take a call. If you want a quick answer on whether we cover your area or what services we offer, a text usually gets a faster response than a call.
If you submit the quote form: Same-day response during the season. I check it morning and evening.
Outside the active season — November through April — response times are more variable. I’m still reachable but I’m not in the field every day. If you’re reaching out in winter to book spring work, expect a response within 24 to 48 hours and know that spring booking fills up faster than most people expect. Reaching out in February or March to get on the spring schedule is not too early.
How the Quote Process Works

I want to walk you through what actually happens after you reach out, because I think knowing what to expect makes the whole thing easier.
First Contact
You call, text, or submit the form. I get back to you same day. In that first conversation I’ll ask a few basic questions — where your property is, what you’re looking for help with, and roughly what the situation is. This helps me understand whether it’s something we handle and gives me a starting point before I come out.
For simple recurring grass cutting, I can often give you a rough ballpark on the phone if you describe the property. For anything involving sod, aeration, restoration, cleanup, or landscaping work, I need to see the property before I can give you a real number.
The Site Visit
For any job beyond a standard grass cut, I come out to the property. There’s no charge for this. I walk the whole property, look at the soil, check the grade and drainage, assess the condition of the existing lawn, and talk through what I’m seeing with you.
If you’re available to walk the property with me, that’s helpful — I can show you what I’m looking at and answer questions in real time. If you’re not available, I can do the assessment on my own and then call you to discuss what I found.
I don’t quote landscaping work over the phone. I’ve done it before and it never ends well — the description and the actual situation are almost always different in ways that matter. Seeing the property takes thirty minutes and saves everyone a lot of confusion later.
The Quote
After the site visit, I put together a quote with a clear breakdown of what’s included and what it costs. No vague line items, no estimates that turn into something different when the invoice comes. The number I quote is the number you pay unless the scope genuinely changes during the work — and if that happens, I tell you before I proceed, not after.
Quotes are typically turned around within 24 hours of the site visit during the active season.
Booking
Once you’re happy with the quote, we confirm a date and get you on the schedule. During peak season — May through July especially — the schedule fills up. If timing matters to you, the sooner you confirm the better. I don’t hold spots without a confirmed booking.
What Happens After You Book

Once you’re on the schedule, here’s what to expect:
For one-time jobs — sod installation, cleanup, aeration — I’ll confirm the date with you in advance. For larger jobs that span multiple days, I’ll walk you through the sequence before we start so you know what’s happening each day.
For recurring grass cutting — I’ll confirm your cut day and you’ll be on a regular schedule from there. I maintain consistent schedules — same day of the week, same time of day where possible. If something comes up that affects your scheduled cut — weather delay, equipment issue, anything — I’ll contact you in advance, not leave you wondering.
Payment is due on completion of the work. We don’t require large upfront deposits. You pay after you’ve seen the job done properly. For recurring maintenance, invoices go out at the end of each month.
If something isn’t right after a job — call or text me directly. I come back and we fix it. There’s no process, no customer service ticket, no waiting. You call me, I sort it out.
A Few Things People Ask Me on First Calls
These come up enough that I’ll answer them here:
“Do you serve my area?” We cover Greater Sudbury broadly — Garson, Hanmer, Val Caron, Chelmsford, Lively, Azilda, Capreol, and the city of Sudbury proper. If you’re not sure whether your specific address is in our service area, just text me the general location and I’ll tell you straight.
“How soon can you start?” Depends on the time of year and what’s already on the schedule. During peak season, a few weeks is typical for new bookings. Earlier in spring or in fall, it’s often faster. Call and I’ll give you a real answer based on what’s actually available.
“Do you do commercial properties?” Yes. We handle both residential and commercial properties across Greater Sudbury. Commercial quotes work the same way — site visit, clear scope, firm number.
“Do you do free estimates?” Yes. Site visits and quotes are always free.
“What if I just need a one-time cut?” We can accommodate one-time cuts depending on schedule availability. Call and ask — if we have the capacity, we’ll get it done.
Ready to Reach Out?
If you’ve been thinking about getting a quote and haven’t called yet — now’s a good time. Spring and early summer are the busiest part of the season and the schedule fills faster than most people expect.
Call or text me directly and we’ll sort out what you need.
